Tywi Centre

Overview

The Tywi Centre is a specialist heritage construction training provider in Carmarthenshire. They approached Seren Global Media with a clear challenge: despite delivering exceptional training in traditional building skills, their online presence didn’t fully reflect their expertise or reach the audiences they wanted. They wanted to raise awareness of their NVQ Level 3 Heritage Trades courses, promote additional training opportunities, and expand visibility across the UK to attract more learners, partners and industry attention.

The brief

The Tywi Centre needed a cohesive communications strategy to strengthen their voice across social media, the website and the media. They wanted to build engagement with local communities, the heritage sector and the wider construction industry — while also driving prospective learners to the courses that matter most.

Our approach

We worked closely with the Tywi Centre to develop a consistent, professional and approachable communications programme. That included monthly bilingual (Welsh and English) social media content focused on heritage construction education, the Centre’s day-to-day activity, events and learner stories — supported by a visual content calendar highlighting key dates, course milestones and priority messages.

To strengthen discoverability and credibility, we also produced a mix of short and long-form website content, alongside targeted media relations to share updates, achievements and success stories with the wider sector. Where appropriate, we adapted strong website content into press releases to secure coverage in local, regional and trade titles — helping build recognition well beyond Carmarthenshire.

Key campaigns were planned and delivered in focused phases. The first NVQ3 recruitment campaign combined authentic social proof with smart targeting — including learner testimonials, boosted posts and paid advertising on Facebook and Instagram — to reach relevant audiences by geography and demographics. The result was immediate: courses filled and interest increased within the heritage and construction sectors. We supported this with a targeted press release distributed across Welsh and UK-wide outlets, including both general publications and construction trade media.

In year two, we leaned into the growing impact of video by producing four long-form videos showcasing carpentry, masonry and plastering courses. Each featured interviews with learners and lecturers and was published on YouTube, with supporting content shared across X, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. We then repurposed this footage into short-form clips to extend reach and keep messaging consistent across channels. Alongside this, we refreshed the website with practical, useful content such as course breakdowns, educational articles and trade-specific tips — strengthening both engagement and search visibility.

We also delivered a full promotional campaign for the Tywi Centre’s Traditional and Sustainable Buildings Fair, including press outreach, social media promotion with weekly countdowns, exhibitor and speaker features, and boosted posts to extend reach. The campaign supported a standout result: the fair sold out, with strong media coverage and community attention.

To make it easier for audiences to take action, we also set up a Linktree bringing together key links — social channels, course sign-ups, NVQ3 videos and press coverage — in one simple place.

The outcome

The combined impact was significant. The Tywi Centre’s social media following tripled, impressions increased sharply, and unique visitors across social channels and the website grew — reflecting rising awareness and a stronger profile in the sector. Courses were fully booked in consecutive years, and the Centre’s reputation as a leading provider of heritage skills training was strengthened locally, regionally and nationally.

By combining strong content, targeted campaigns and proactive media relations, we helped the Tywi Centre tell its story more clearly, connect with the right audiences and build a confident online presence that feels modern, professional and true to who they are.
