Swansea Bay Construction Support Group (SBCSG) Apprentice Awards

Overview

Swansea Bay Construction Support Group (SBCSG) is a long-established consortium of construction companies working together to develop skills, raise standards and support the future workforce across the Swansea Bay region. Its annual Apprentice Awards are a flagship event, celebrating apprentices who are making a real impact within the construction industry.

As part of our wider relationship with SBCSG, we were asked to support the Apprentice Awards with a fully integrated package of creative, digital and event services. This was the fourth year we had worked alongside the Group on the awards, with the event continuing to grow in confidence, professionalism and profile each year.

The brief

SBCSG wanted a seamless, end-to-end communications and delivery approach that would support the Apprentice Awards from early planning through to post-event promotion. The priority was to build anticipation ahead of the ceremony, present nominees in a professional and engaging way, and create a clear, consistent visual identity for the awards.

Ensuring the event itself ran smoothly was essential, as was increasing awareness among apprentices, employers, partners and the wider construction sector. SBCSG was looking for a trusted partner who could act as an extension of their team and manage the detail as well as the bigger picture.

Our approach

We worked closely with SBCSG to deliver a complete creative and communications package for the awards.

We developed a dedicated awards identity and applied it consistently across all materials, including email invitations, event brochures, table plans, presentation slides and a bespoke PowerPoint template. This gave the awards a clear, professional look and feel and helped elevate the overall experience for attendees.

To build momentum ahead of the event, we produced three nominee announcement blogs and created fifteen nominee introduction videos. Each video was filmed on location, capturing apprentices in their working environments alongside interview footage. This approach allowed us to tell authentic, human stories that reflected the skill, commitment and pride behind each nomination.

We also scripted the full running order for the evening, including the Chairman’s foreword and speech, ensuring the ceremony flowed well and struck the right celebratory tone. On the night, we provided hands-on AV support, managing the presentation live, cueing videos at the right moments and supporting the smooth delivery of the event. Professional photography captured the evening and provided assets for future use.

Following the ceremony, we produced a detailed press release celebrating the winners and reinforcing the value of apprenticeships across the region, helping to extend the reach and impact of the awards beyond the room.

The outcome

Over the four years we’ve supported the SBCSG Apprentice Awards, the event has become a recognised and respected celebration of construction talent in Swansea Bay. Our work has helped strengthen its professional presentation, increase engagement with nominees and employers, and deliver a polished, memorable experience for everyone involved.

By combining clear storytelling, cohesive design and practical event delivery, we’ve helped SBCSG build an awards programme that celebrates the future of the construction industry and continues to grow in reputation year after year.
